The Armstrong 21 Day Super Cleanse
This super cleanse is a life transforming event of mind, body and spirit.
The first 21 days super cleanse I did was 8 years ago as I write this. I was in a place of over toxicity of my organs and cells. My doctor had recommended that I undergo an operation on both my knees to remove scar tissue. He actually said that I had the wear and tear in my knees of a 90 year old man and the only solution was to go under the knife, although he also said that this solution was only temporary and my knees would deteriorate again.
I was in a bad way, popping pain killers and anti-inflammatory’s like they were Smarties to mask the painful symptoms. My martial arts practice was suffering and I even had problems walking up stairs and my legs would often buckle from the pain.
But this was not the only health challenge I was facing! Childhood asthmatic symptoms, which I hadn’t experienced for years, had also returned and I was back puffing on an inhaler every day. The concoction of pain medication was also taking it’s toll and I was suffering from stomach pain and well on my way to developing Ulcers.
There has to be a better way I said to myself after leaving my doctors office. So I went for a second opinion and received the same diagnosis and recommended treatment.
I was not convinced that this was the best course of action so I kept looking for this better way! I immersed myself in reading the study of health and healing. I read numerous books, listened to dozens of audio courses and met with various healers and health educators.
What seemed to make sense to me more than anything was that over toxicity of the cells and organs was the main cause of my dis-ease and therefore the solution would be to detoxify and cleanse the whole internal system to bring about health and healing.
What also made absolute sense was the best way to do this was to consume as many alkaline and mineral rich nutrients as possible and at the same time putting as little stress on the body and organs as possible.
The most efficient and effective way to do this is through juicing! There is no better way to flood the body with the maximum amount of nutrients possible than juicing fruits and vegetables and drinking the pure juice without the pulp or fibre.
There is minimal stress put on the digestive system and the pure juice is allowed to soak through the intestinal walls, cleansing and enriching every cell in the body. At the same time, neutralising and flushing toxins out of the system through the four main channels of elimination.
I was so convinced of this that I went on a 21 day super cleanse. At the time it wasn’t really planned, it was more of an intuition. I had my juicer, I had moved into a new house by myself and every time I went shopping I was just drawn to the produce isle and all I bought was fruits and vegetables for juicing.
I didn’t even have a time limit or duration, I simply went on instinct and drank almost nothing but juice for 21 days straight. In that time the only other things I had, were filtered water, home made strong Kombucha tea, and once when I was visiting friends, I accepted a bowl of vegetable soup (out of politeness more than anything). Looking back I don’t really remember all that I went through on the cleanse emotionally and physically, but I do remember how I felt after the 21 days and the results I received.
Everything was different for me, physically, emotionally and spiritually. Physically my eyes had changed colour from brown to green. My complexion had brightened and my skin had softened and I looked younger.
I stopped needing my inhaler as much with a reduction in my asthmatic symptoms of about 80%. Sinus and nasal congestion cleared, my body became more defined and my muscles were rippling. My energy levels soared, and I was able to sustain consistent energy throughout the day and needed less sleep at night. I had increased mental clarity, I felt calmer, more centred and took on a new more relaxed outlook on life.
I felt a deeper connection to myself and my creator. Oh, did I forget to mention that my knees were completely healed and eight years later I haven’t had a problem since, or felt the need to take any medication.
Also as a result, my taste buds changed, and I started craving healthy foods. Like Salads and fruits and I wasn’t so interested in the unhealthy or acidic foods I used to eat.
I completely stopped eating meat, fish, cheese, and milk as well.
If this can work for me, do you think it could also work for you, no matter what health issue you may have? Of course, it absolutely can, and what do you have to lose?
Almost zilch, compared to the massive potential gains right.
I asked myself three questions before I do something that I am not sure about.
- What is the worst thing that could happen?
- What is the best thing that could happen?
- Out of these two, which is most important to me?
Be honest with yourself when you ask yourself these three questions and then take action.
As well as simply drinking the Juice, I mentioned earlier that we have four channels of elimination. Well…. we actually have five and I will reveal to you the secret fifth as we go on here.
Respiration-
Surprisingly enough, we eliminate up to 70% of toxins through our lungs and respiratory pathways, so good breathing habits and exercises are of utmost importance to receive full benefit on the cleanse.
I recommend practising full three-sectional breathing 2-3 times daily, continuing with it as a regular breathing habit.
Sit or stand placing the hands on hips and pressing thumbs into kidneys and fingers into abdomen. Squeeze firmly as if trying to make the thumb and fingers touch and then breath deeply into the kidney area. When you do this correctly, the thumbs will be pushed back first as the kidney area and lower back expands and then the fingers will be pushed out as the abdomen expands. This is the first section and the most important one.
We continue with the in breath and then the ribs expand out sideways as the oxygen keeps filling our lungs just like a glass of water. We pour the water in and it fills from the bottom up.
Once our ribs have expanded out sideways, then we continue to the third section of the breath as we keep inhaling our chest and shoulders then rise. When most people breath they only breath into the third section of the lungs, and this can be seen with the in-breath as the stomach sucks in and the chest expands and with the out breath the chest sinks and stomach expands.
This is completely incorrect and will be very debilitating to your health and life.
Practice this three-sectional breath until it becomes a firmly engrained habit. All breathing is conducted in and out of the nose. The out breath is roughly twice as slow as the in breath. When practising and learning it, the in breath will take about 7-8 seconds and the out breath will take about 7-16 seconds.
When breathing normally throughout the day, this will halve to 3-4 seconds in breath and 3-4 seconds out. Self mastery comes through breath mastery.
Perspiration-
Our next largest channel of elimination of toxins is through the skin. Our skin is the largest organ the body has and proper skin care is often neglected and really not understood; so it is important to first understand that the skin is a semi-permeable membrane, meaning that it is not completely water proof and anything that we put on our skin will soak through into our blood stream and lymphatic system.
With this in mind it is a good rule of thumb not to put anything on our skin that we wouldn’t be comfortable putting in our mouth, because it is all going into the body anyway.
If we are on a cleanse and drinking our juice drinks, but at the same time spraying antiperspirants under our arms then we are severely hindering the detoxification process. Firstly the deodorant is pure poison to the body & is getting soaked in through some of the biggest pores on the body, which are around the arm pit area. Secondly, antiperspirant translated is sweat blocker. It literally blocks the toxins from being released through the act of perspiring, which then causes them to build up in the lymph causing blockages, resulting in breast and other cancers.
Open this crucial channel of elimination by choosing not to put these poisons on the skin anymore.
The one people use most often is antiperspirant deodorant, but this also goes for Perfumes, Aftershave, Sun-cream, Sun block, dish washing liquid, shower gel, shampoos, makeup, toothpaste and mouth wash.
There are healthy alternatives to all of these, which I am not going to go into here however your local health food store is a good place to start and simply using lemon juice instead of deodorant would be a fantastic start.
You really don’t want antiperspirant anything, which is completely unnatural and goes against the body’s natural function to keep you healthy.
Work with your body and your body will work with you.
Now you have that channel of elimination open, help it to eliminate by doing something everyday that will get a good sweat on. I highly recommend rebounding on a mini trampet for 15 minutes a day while on your 21 day cleanse and also ongoing. This will not only get a sweat on but will also loosen the bowels and move waste through the lymphatic system and out of the body and at the same time energising the cells in a very low impact way.
I also recommend infra red saunas to help with the elimination of toxins through this channel.
Defication-
The next channel of elimination is through our large intestine, which is more commonly known as our bowels. It is said that death starts in the bowels and if we don’t keep our bowels flowing and eliminating correctly then this is very true.
Most people think that one bowel movement a day is enough and if you only ate once a day then this may be the case, but more accurately, if we are not eliminating through our bowels three times a day then there is waste being left behind to ferment, putrefy, rot and be absorbed through the intestinal wall to circulate throughout the body.
The bowels are also a breading ground for parasites, which can cling on even through a juice cleanse. So especially in the toxic age that we live in, it is beneficial to help the body clean the bowels through other means. Colonic irrigation is a great way to remove old waste from the intestinal walls. Another method, which can be just as effective when done correctly is by purchasing an in-expensive home enema kit and doing enemas yourself a few times a week. You can even do coffee enemas,which is a powerful cancer detoxify-er which helps eliminate bile from the liver and gall bladder. And you can also do garlic enemas, which help to eliminate nasty parasites.
As well as this, I recommend an intestinal cleanse and parasite cleanse herbal formula’s, which can be very effective at removing mucoid plaque from the intestinal walls and flushing out unwanted nasties.

On an ongoing basis, as long as we are keeping ourselves well hydrated and eating a plant based diet then we will keep our bowels healthy and eliminating three times a day.
Urination-
The fourth channel of elimination is through our bladder, and very simply all we need to do to keep this flowing and detoxing regularly is to keep our hydration levels high and I am not talking about tea, coffee, alcohol or fizzy drinks! Pure clean water and the water from fresh fruits and vegetables is what the body needs and as long as we are taking these in regularly then the bladder can do it’s job correctly.
When you are urinating 12-15 times a day and the colour of your urine is either completely clear or at the most a straw yellow, which is usual first thing in the morning, then you know that you are giving your bladder what it need to function correctly.
Earthing-
There is a secret fifth channel of elimination, which few health educators understand or know about, but which is critical… especially in the 21st century. The fifth channel is grounding or earthing. Let me explain, we are electro-magnetic beings and we have a subtle electrical energy charge running our body. In this day and age we are surrounded by electromagnetic chaos. Any electrical device that is close to us will have an effect on us, including lights, plug sockets, radio, TV, kitchen appliances, and the three biggest ones, which can have serious consequences on our health are mobiles phones, computers and hair dryers. For me personally I would not be able to share my message and help so many people achieve optimal health if it weren’t for my trust laptop, but sell cell/mobile phones and hair dryers I stay well away from.
This electromagnetic chaos which we are exposed to often enters our energy field and into the denser manifestation of the energy field which is our body. It then bounces around like a pin ball with no way out. It wreaks havoc creating free radicals, keeping us out of balance and in an energy deficit.
The best way to get this electro-magnetic chaos out of our body is to earth ourselves. This can be done very simply by taking our shoes off and standing bare foot on the earth. Wet sand or soil or grass are the best conductors and will allow this chaos to be drained out of our system and at the same time will connect us to the earths life giving energy, which will charge, balance and enrich our body and mind with it’s clean energy and wisdom.
Other ways we can do this are:
- Lying down on the grass
- Swimming in the sea
- Rock Climbing
Do you ever wonder why surfers and rock climbers are so addicted to their sport? It’s not just the climbing or the surfing that they enjoy. It is the energy they receive from the earth that charges them to surf or climb for 8 hours a day.
Aim to spend at least 15 minutes a day earthing yourself, whether it is a barefoot walk in the park or on the beach, or even standing in your back yard whilst doing your breathing exercises.
I hope that you can now appreciate the importance of keeping the channels of elimination open while you are cleansing your system. The consequences for not doing so can be likened to cleaning out your bath while the plug is left in the whole. It just wouldn’t make sense would it.
Now for the juice!
3-4 litres of fruit and vegetable juice per day. (organic preferable)
1.5 litres of good quality water per day
No other food or drink is to be ingested for the 21 day period.
Fruits and veg to juice:
carrots
apples
cucumber
celery
tomato
courgette
kale
spinach
romaine lettuce
collard greens
swiss chard
bell peppers
rocket/arugula
parsley
coriander/cilantro
lemons
limes
fresh ginger
A few favourites:
celery, cucumber
lemon, ginger, celery, cucumber, apple, spinach, coriander – A nice energiser in the morning!
Carrots, tomato, celery
carrots, tomato, spinach, celery, cucumber, coriander
carrots, apples – Feeling hungry or cravings, make this quick and it will satiate you!
You may combine them how you wish. Those are just a few I am enjoying lately. It is good to rotate your greens so don’t have spinach every day for 3 weeks. Every day I would have a big bunch of at least one of the three herbs, coriander/cilantro, parsley or rocket/arugula. You will find your own favourite combinations after a week. I generally don’t mix apples with tomato’s . Try it if you want but it didn’t sit well with me.
You will experience detox symptoms!! Remember this, so when it happens you don’t think that you are sick and you need to eat some solid food. This is just the mind rationalising and playing tricks. Realise that this is a good thing as toxins are being flushed from the body, and that this to shall pass! You may experience any of the following, nausea, headache, cold/flu like symptoms, aches and pains, lethargy, mucous, diarrhea, irritability. On the flip side you will also at times experience, great clarity, high energy, elation and a new zest for life.
A tongue scraper is a good investment which you can get from the chemist. Scrape every morning to remove toxic build up. Having some parsley at hand to chew on in case of bad breath! : ) A dry body brush is also useful to move the lymphatic system. Boots or a similar outlet should have one! brush strokes towards the heart and circular on the stomach. Also will make skin shiny and helps reduce cellulite.
Keep in mind that it is only 21 days of your life to completely change the whole trajectory of your life raising your standards and levels of well-being and self worth to new heights. Much of the 21 days will actually be very enjoyable and it is only a few days that will be challenging and that is when you need to take sovereignty of your mind and say “no matter what tricks you try and play on me I am going to do this!” There will be tests along the way. You may be caught out with no juice and be offered some food by someone or be invited to lunch or dinner. This is just a test from the universe to see how serious you are about your transformation. You will feel an amazing sense of accomplishment and empowerment at the end of 21 days, so keep the end in mind. Visualise and see yourself victorious and it will be so!
The ingredients above is what I really recommend for maximum benefit as they will completely change your system from acid to alkaline. If there are other fruits that you are really craving like oranges or grapes etc then it is ok to juice these but do keep them to a minimum. I experimented on my 100 day cleanse and I allowed all sweet fruit for the first 50 days and then I removed all sweet fruit including apples and added in 2 blended avocado’s to my juice every day from day 50 to 75 and then I cut out the avocado’s and kept to the above for the remainder of the 25 day’s which is my original protocol and I find it is the most beneficial.
Do this cleanse once per year for Outstanding Health!
